International Showcases of Audiovisual in Health Sciences

The National Center of Medical Science Information Infomed, of the Ministry of Public Health in the Republic of Cuba, summons to the International Showcase of Audiovisual in Health Sciences - VideoSalud2008, to take place in Havana from September 29^th to October 3^rd, 2008.

This meeting has as objectives to stimulate the creation and diffuse audiovisual works of scientific character, of high ethical and aesthetic value, guided mainly to the priorities of health in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to the advances and challenges of the world health. Equally, it intends to propitiate the exchange and cooperation among institutions; health, information, and communication professionals; film makers, producers, and audience.

We invite colleagues from all over the world to participate in this appointment where science and culture unite for health and integration of our people.

Informative Showcases of audiovisual works in all the provinces of the country.
Present theoretical meeting on audiovisual communication of science.

Competitive showcases

Audiovisual works on health sciences will be able to participate in these categories:

Documental
Multimedia
Didactics
Informative
Television program
Film sequences
Unpublished script can also participate.

The works will be exhibited free to the audience and a jury compound by well known professionals in health sciences and audiovisual, Cuban and foreigner communication professionals.

The works involved in the competitive showcase must be sent in two hard copies in VHS (NTSC standard), CD or DVD, along with the Work Registration Form for competitive showcases to the secretariat of this event and the pay the fee on expected time term .

The registration of the works and unpublished scripts supposes the acceptance and execution of the bases of participation of this edition of the event.

Special Awards:

Prize of the Information Center of in Sciences of the Health for Latin American and the Caribbean - BIREME-PAHO- WHO

This prize which consists on a trip to the headquarters of Bireme in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will be granted to the winner of Videosalud 2008 who contributes the most to the purposes of the Virtual Library of Health.

To the best national unpublished script for their production in the country.

National prizes of unpublished script: to three national projects that approach outstanding topics for health in Cuba.
The first prize of unpublished script consists on providing to its creators the resources for the production of the work in the country.

To the best audiovisual work on the contributions and applications of health sciences of the Cuban medical collaboration abroad.

This prize is granted by the Viceministery of Foreign Colaboracón of the Ministry of Foreing Affairs of Cuba.

To the best audiovisual work made by students or amateurs.
Other Awards from national and foreigners organizations.

Informative Showcase

The informative showcase will have free registration and free category. A selection of this showcase will be exhibited in all the provinces of the country as would be agreed with its producers.

So as in the competitive showcase as in the informative one, the authors who want to attend will be credited as delegates, paying the corresponding fee in the foreseen terms.

The catalog and the program of both showcases will be published in advance in this site.

Theoretical meeting

The theoretical meeting will be carried out in two modalities: Present and Virtual.

General topics for the theoretical meeting

Knowledge and information management for health audiovisual .
Scientific & technical creation of audiovisual works.
Technologies and audiovisual means for health.
Production, exhibition and distribution of audiovisual works in health sciences.
Audiovisual communication, society, and health.

The theoretical present conference will take place at ICAIC Cultural Film Center, on 23rd street between 10th and 12th, Vedado, Havana. There will be masterful lectures and roundtables. We have invited Cuban and foreign personalities of information and audiovisual communication Cubans and foreigners. Also, it will participate representatives of Cuban institutions with experience in producing and spreading health sciences audiovisual as well as credited delegates to this event.

Those persons who want to participate in the theoretical event will be able to do so in the virtual modality through the web site www.videosalud2008.sld.cu.

To sumitt works they should register in this event website and send the works according to the presentation norms to this site for their evaluation by the Scientific Committee whose decision will be communicated to the authors.

Those participating in both modalities will receive a certificate of participation by e-mail.

Courses
There will be carried out short courses on the general topics of this event imparted by well known specialists of the audiovisual information and communication. Registrations for these courses will be through the web site of this event with independence of the registration of works or the registration as delegate. Those participating in the courses will receive certificate endorsed by well known educational institutions.
